From Zolakar to Ijevan to Join WorldView: The 7th Festival of Pedagogical Thought Held in Tavush

On April 19, Secondary School No. 5 in Ijevan, Tavush Province, opened its doors to host the much-anticipated and well-established Festival of Pedagogical Thought. The 7th festival welcomed the Visual Armenia Foundation, which participated with a hands-on workshop based on the WorldView on the Teacher’s Desk manual, showcased the latest tools from the WorldView educational platform, and offered personalized consultations for teachers newly joining the WorldView network. These one-on-one sessions helped educators gain a clear understanding of the program and platform, and smoothly integrate into its vibrant and innovative teaching community.

“The organizers placed a strong emphasis on self-organization, encouraging the development of a collaborative, tolerant, and community-minded educational culture. Year by year, we see growing interest and a noticeable rise in the quality and depth of the work being presented. Our team never misses this one-of-a-kind event—it’s a valuable opportunity both to reconnect with experienced members of the WorldView community and to welcome new ones. I believe this year our booth-classroom was more active than ever—constantly buzzing with energy, with multiple working groups engaged at once. I’m especially grateful to our volunteers who traveled from different parts of Tavush to Ijevan to support us in presenting the WorldView platform and assisting teachers with registration,” shared Arevik Avetisyan, Head of the WorldView Educational Program, offering an inside look at the event.

“I came all the way to Ijevan just to register and become part of WorldView,” said Deghdzanik Chomoyan, an Armenian language and literature teacher from Zolakar Secondary School No. 2 in Gegharkunik, who spent considerable time in the WorldView booth-classroom.

“Many of our colleagues have shown great interest in the WorldView manual. This event in Ijevan was a wonderful opportunity to introduce it to teachers from different regions. The WorldView on the Teacher’s Desk manual has already gained recognition and appreciation, and educators are eager to explore its resources,” noted Haykanush Ghevondyan, WorldView trainer and co-author of the manual.

“This event also highlighted how deeply the WorldView educational program has taken root and expanded. Many participants were already well-acquainted with the foundation’s work and had brought along new colleagues to help them get informed and involved. We also noticed that festival visitors were actively seeking out the WorldView booth,” added Naira Yerkanian, also a WorldView trainer and co-author of the manual.

It’s worth noting that Ijevan Secondary School No. 2 is one of 40 schools that earned a smart board in 2023 through the Smart Boards for WorldView Schools competitive project.
