Visual Armenia Development Foundation donated a smartboard to Abovyan basic school N2 within the frameworks of “Ashkharhatsuyts” educational project

As a follow up to last year’s visit of Christine Simone, President of the Manoogian Simone Foundation and Hovhannes Ghazaryan, Executive Director of the Visual Armenia Development Foundation, a Memorundum of Understanding was signed on February 14th between the Visual Armenia Development Foundation and Abovyan basic school N2 to collaborate on promoting quality education through introduction of innovative technologies in the education process.

Based on the proactive and effective engagement in the “Ashkharhatsuyts” experimental educational project and the needs of the school, Visual Armenia Foundation donated an interactive smartboard to the school.

“ Our goal is to promote quality education not only through innovative projects but also equipping the schools with modern technologies when possible, to help the teachers conduct lessons in a more engaging and effective way”, – Mr. Ghazaryan, the Executive Director of the Foundation said.

“Both the Ashkharhatsuyts project and the modern smartboard created an opportunity to establish a special classroom for innovations and ideation in our school. Every student has the right for quality education that meets the requirements of the modern world, therefore the purpose of establishing the classroom is to create an environment for alternative education, entertainment and also discovery of their abilities. And this has been possible through our active participation in the “Ashkahrhatsuyts” project», said the principal of the school Artur Tashchyan.

At the end of last year, during their visit to N2 basic school in Abovyan Christine Simone, who is a friend and supporter of the Foundation, and Mr. Ghazaryan observed the Ashkarhatsuyts innovative educational platform in action, piloted since September. The visitors watched the educational platform being used, seeing first hand the opportunities it gives to the teachers and students to make the lessons more visualized and interactive.

During the class, Ms. Simone, shared with the students the success story of her grandfather, the national hero of Armenia Alex Manoogian. A story which could be wonderfully illustrated with maps and photos using the Ashkarhatsuyts platform. Talking about Mr. Manoogian’s fascinating and productive life, she highlighted the importance of acquiring quality education at all times as the cornerstone of her message to the students.

«My grandfather was born in Smyrna in the Ottoman Empire – now Izmir, Turkey, and though he came from a modest family had a very good education – an education that formed the foundation for all his future successes….

Education opens our minds, gives us a way to approach whatever we do or face in life and it can be the foundation of all our opportunities․

So today he would love to see this new interactive software teach history in a new way. A more engaging way and that allows the teacher to interact with you more. And it is nice to start with history, because history is the story of people and events. It shows us where we and others came from, what struggles we faced, what successes we had so we can appreciate our past and learn from it for the future,” said Ms. Simone while addressing the students.

With “Ashkharhatsuyts” innovative educational platform one can showcase any historic event or name between time and space, allowing teachers to visualize their words and deliver the lesson in a more interesting manner for students.
