“WorldView” Platform to be Used in Special Educational Complex for Children with Hearing Impairments in Yerevan after the Holidays

“As soon as I reach home, I will make sure to also register my kids on the platform.” This is how one of the participants of the training responded after observing the interactive map of “WorldView” for the first time. Today, in Yerevan Special educational complex for children with hearing impairments, teachers were in the role of students: the decision was to use the spring holidays as well for educational purposes. Many of them had heard of “WorldView,” but lacked skills to apply it. At the invitation of the educational complex, the Visual Armenia Foundation team conducted a training on how to use the platform.

At the end of the meeting, Naira Yerkanyan, “WorldView” mentor and training coach, noted: “Everyone registered  real quick and started working enthusiastically from the very first moment. It was clear from the feedback how attractive and useful the platform was for them. Without any difficulty, they began applying it and providing feedback.

115 individuals study in this unique educational complex, 60 percent of them being from provinces. This is a boarding school, so the students also live here. According to Director of the complex, Armine Babayan, the institution follows the same official public education standards, same textbooks are used, however, the educational complex is also unique due to children’s needs; therefore, the value of educational tools rich in innovative and visual elements is much more crucial here.

Armine Babayan also noted: “This is an extremely valuable program for us due to the fact that our children’s visual perception is more developed. The platform will be a helpful tool for teachers as well. I expect that as a result of applying “WorldView,” the motivation of students will increase, and the work of the teachers will become more effective and easier.”

History, geography, Armenian language and literature teachers took part in the seminar on how to use “WorldView”.” They are confident that the one-day training is only the beginning of the cooperation with “Worldview”.
